If I had a dollar for every time I have had a friend of mine say“ he just doesn’t want to put a label on us,” I would have a wardrobe that Carrie Bradshaw would be envious of. I have had every type of my friends use this excuse, even the ones who claimed they would never be “that girl.” But as soon as their next relationship starts, they forget the dating rules and deem their relationship the exception. Dating can have gray areas, but there are some indicators to let you know you're just being taken along for the ride.
Your guy doesn’t believe in relationship labels
This just an excuse for him to “be” with you but when it comes down to it, he isn’t held responsible. Example: you call him and he never calls you back. Well, technically you aren’t his girlfriend so it’s not mandatory for him to return every single call.
His friends and family don’t know about you
This is a huge red flag! If you are excited about a relationship, you are eager to let your loved ones know. So, if you have yet to meet any of his friends or family, he isn’t including you in any of his long-term plans.
He pays for nothing
I don’t believe a guy should pay for everything by any means. But in any relationship both parties should be contributing. I once had a friend who let her boyfriend live in her apartment while she paid for everything and he sat around doing nothing. If your boyfriend never offers to help out, then chances are he is taking advantage of you. Guys are especially prideful about being able to support and provide for the people in their life. So if your guy’s wallet is on lock down something is up!

Everyone’s opinions are subjective and mine may not match yours. That’s fine. Just remember to keep your wits about you in any relationship, so you don’t end up getting hurt.
