We all know drinking water is good for us. There are numerous studies on the benefits of drinking eight cups of water a day, including better skin, a healthier immune system, and less dehydration. So why is it so hard to drink that much water? Do you often forget water or substitute it with something else? Here are our favorite ways to drink more water:
Carry a water bottle at all times.
Most of the time, I don't drink water simply because I forget to. Having a water bottle with me at all times reminds me to drink up. Invest in a BPA-free water bottle, then bring it to your desk, classes, the library, and the gym.
Add lemon slices, strawberries, or your fruit of choice.
Adding fruit can make water just a little more interesting and not so bland. A great way to do this is to take a pitcher of water, cut up a few strawberries or lemons (or both), and leave the pitcher in the refrigerator. The next time you're thirsty, drink up. The water will have a hint of whatever fruit you put in it.
Replace other drinks when you sip mindlessly
Do you ever grab a coffee or soda before you start watching TV or a movie, and suddenly it's gone by the end and you don't remember drinking it? Try doing this with water. Grab a large glass of water or your water bottle, then sit back and let your body sip mindlessly.
