Brighten Your Winter Wardrobe

Wintertime: chilly temperatures, icy mornings and nights accompanied by visible breath. This time of year also brings out a lot of dark (and often boring) colors: black, brown (or tan) and gray, to be specific. While there is nothing wrong with the simplicity and classic look of a black pair of pants or a gray jacket, it can be refreshing to embrace color in the winter. Don't be afraid to fill your closet with every shade of the rainbow. The dreariness of winter can easily be offset by a cheerful wardrobe.

Taken from some top designers and brands, these simple ideas offer inspiration for injecting a little bit of unexpected color into your winter wardrobe.
Jack Wills sweater, TopShop belt, Lucky Brand earrings, Bottega Veneta dress, Brian Atwood pumps, Tibi pants, Betsey Johnson pumps, TopShop dress, Reed Krakoff bag, Rag & Bone sweater, Santi clutch, Qupid flats

Introduce these to your wardrobe in heartwarming colors: sweaters, dresses, pants, pumps, flats, earrings, bracelets, tights, belts, handbags

Incorporating bright colors to your closet involves achieving a certain balance. Pair bright blue pants with a neutral top. A shocking yellow dress looks best with nude heels, and a deep red sweater looks fabulous with simple jeans and brown boots. Colorful accessories can make any neutral outfit more interesting - just cinch the waist of a black sweater dress with a hot pink belt, or pair it with lime green pumps.

And, if you dare, you can even try some unique color combos - think hot pink and red (Emma Stone, anyone?) or electric aqua with shocking citrus yellow. Colorblocking is always a fun way to show off bold hues. Just be prepared to get noticed!

Whatever you choose to do this winter, do it colorfully! Wintertime is no excuse for a bland, dull and cold wardrobe. Keep your spirits boosted with a healthy dose of color.
