Kathryn Vella, the founder and lead designer of House of Maxi sat down with us to give us some insights on how she started her own fashion line and a behind the scenes look at these gorgeous maxi dresses!


How did you become interested in fashion design?
I have always loved fashion. I've been designing my own clothes since I was school, and eventually I enrolled into a fashion design course and went on to design my own collections

What inspired you to start House of Maxi?
I could never find chic, sexy and neat fitting maxi's or maxi's that were a solid color. I found a gap in the market and decided to design my own, using bright colors, quality jersey and flattering cuts.

What advice do you have for college women who want to start their own fashion company?
Go for it. It's a tough industry, but if you love it and work extremely hard, you can succeed.


Our favorite way to wear a maxi dress is to keep it simple with flat sandals and minimal jewelry. The sexy floor length dresses do all the talking!
