The Best Movie & TV Halloween Costumes

Not sure what to be for Halloween? Halloween in college gets complicated, with Halloween parties going on the weekend before Halloween and on Halloween itself. Needless to say, it gets expensive buying several costumes just for Halloween.

Luckily, we have five DIY costume ideas from your favorite TV and movie characters of 2012:

Katniss Everdeen
The Hunger Games was one of the biggest hits of this year. For Katniss' look, pick out a light blue shirtdress and add the signature mockingjay pin (get it here). Don't forget to braid your hair. For makeup, go with a fresh-faced look with some foundation, mascara and lip gloss.

Catwoman
If you're going for edgy and sexy all at once, you can't go wrong with catwoman. Besides finding the mask (which you can get on Amazon here), the rest is simple: an edgy leather jacket, black leather (or just black denim) jeans, and black boots, preferably with a stiletto heel. Finish it off with red lipstick, and you're good to go.

Mad Men
Channel your favorite retro chic look by dressing up as a character from Mad Men. It's all about classic dresses, gloves, signature red lipstick, and small details like the sunflower brooch that Joan is wearing. Pin up your hair and you're ready to go.

Holly Golightly
Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's is not a new character, but she's a favorite for a reason. Both classy and easily recognizable, this costume is all about the accessories. You'll need a classic black dress, a rhinestone tiara (available on Amazon here), elbow length gloves, and some elegant heels. Oh, and don't forget her classic cat eye shades.

Honey Boo Boo
We all agree this girl is just slightly nuts, but we can't take our eyes off of her hilarious antics. Go with a ruffly pink dress, white booties, pink bows, and fake bling. Tease your hair until it's stiff and curl the rest into ringlets. Don't forget to layer on the mascara and ultra-pink blush.

What are your favorite TV and movie costumes for Halloween? What are you dressing up as?
