Taco Tuesday means something different to everyone. For some, it means cheap beer and margaritas (for those who are of age, of course); for others, it simply means what the title implies: eating tacos! Regardless of what it specifically means to you, Taco Tuesday can be an enjoyable and inexpensive way to spend quality time with friends.
Host a Taco Tuesday and wow your friends! It’s simple and fun. First, you need to determine a budget. It is always helpful to incorporate a “potluck” style event if you are being budget conscious. Inviting about five to 12 people should give you the best value for a potluck. If you choose not to go this route, ask everyone to reserve their food by giving you their $5 ahead of time. That way, you aren’t forced to dish out your own money for everything, and it will provide an accurate estimate as to how many people are attending.
The next step is deciding what kind of tacos you’re going to serve. This may seem like a simple task, but there’s actually a wide variety to choose from. You can use anything from Nacho Cheese Dorito style nachos to an Old El Paso Taco Kit. Whatever you choose, you’ll need the basic essentials:
- Taco Shells/tortillas/nacho chips
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Ground beef/chicken/vegetarian option
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Beans
- Guacamole
- Nacho cheese dip/shredded cheese
You don’t want your guests to dine and ditch if your kickback is a snooze, so it’s important to provide entertainment. This is just as imperative as having taco shells. Try a game or two -- choose something that will get everyone involved, such as Pictionary or Catchphrase. If you don’t own any games, don’t go out and purchase them. Instead, ask your guests if they have anything they could bring. Oh, and let’s not forget music! The music selection should fit the mood. Create a playlist with a variety of music and delegate a DJ. You can always play music from Pandora.
Let the Taco Tuesday festivities begin!
