When you have a full course-load and a laundry list of involvements, finding a job that works with your schedule can get annoying and difficult. With so many different options in the job market it is easy to become overwhelmed, but this doesn’t mean it’s impossible to find a job you can balance with school.
1. Tutor
Looking into academic tutoring options is always a good idea if you’re looking for a job on campus. Check out local public schools or the athletic center to see if there are any available opportunities. Tutors are considered to be a hot commodity in college, and there are probably more opportunities than you’re aware of. Plus, it is incredibly rewarding to know that you’re helping another student gain confidence in their work.2. Waitress or hostess
Another option is becoming a waitress or hostess as they are very popular occupations and fairly easy to get the hang of. Living in a college town usually means that there are plenty of opportunities available, not to mention waitressing definitely helps you rake in some extra cash when it comes to getting tips!3. Babysitter
If you have a car, explore babysitting opportunities. Network with your friends, classmates or sorority sisters to see if they know of any local families that need a little extra help. A lot of times, babysitting every so often can lead to more long-term opportunities. Parents are more likely to need you at night on weekends, so this opportunity won’t conflict with your class work as much as other opportunities might.4. Look on your school's classified ads
When all else fails, go on your school’s classified website and see if there are any opportunities posted there. Most college campuses offer some form of career services so surely you’ll be able to find something to fit your schedule. More often than not, school classified websites have plenty of opportunities that you wouldn’t have heard of otherwise. No matter what path you choose, have confidence in yourself and don’t give up! Be relentless yet professional with employers and you are guaranteed to get what you want. Good luck!
