3 Outfits Inspired by "Oz the Great and Powerful"

Mila, Rachel and James ... oh my! In the newest rendition of the famed L. Frank Baum novel, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," a powerhouse cast takes on the beloved tale and shows fans the wizard’s untold backstory. All the ladies’ unique costumes in “Oz the Great and Powerful” (in theaters March 8) are easily emulated with a few enchanting pieces.

Theodora/The Wicked Witch of the West

When she’s not cackling through a whirlwind of smoke as The Wicked Witch of the West, Mila Kunis’ character Theodora takes on a much more unassuming look. A burgundy midi skirt like this beauty from ASOS and a ruffled oxford shirt are a wearable interpretation of her off-duty witching wear. Pair pumps with the latest in legwear -- nude fishnets -- for just the right marriage of danger and demure.

Evanora

If the day calls for an elegant evening dress, look to the film’s character Evanora, played by Rachel Weisz, to inspire a mysterious look. This gorgeous hi-lo sequin number is part of JCPenney’s newest designer collaboration line, Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa. Black lace tights, killer heels and emerald accessories take this gown from simple and sparkly to spellbinding.

Annie/Glinda

Michelle Williams dons long, blonde locks for her role as Glinda the Good Witch. A shorter-layered Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa ivory dress is a more wearable version of Glinda’s pale floor-sweeping pieces. Swap the black belt for a shimmery taupe one and continue the muted tones throughout the accessories to achieve her ethereal appeal.

As with any great film comes great fashion, and those in “Oz the Great and Powerful” are no exception. Full of whimsy and mystique, costume designer Gary Jones transports viewers to Oz through a modern interpretation of the classic expectations of Oz residents’ attire. With a bit of lace and a touch of sparkle, anyone can channel the looks of the three leading ladies in this highly-anticipated film -- no heel-clicking necessary.
