Makeup for a European Vacation

Being able to travel is an amazing opportunity and adventure in life. With summer in full swing, it’s time to start planning, or just dreaming, of what to pack for a jet-set European vacation. Here are all the essentials to bring when traveling light but still staying beautiful.

Concealer
Bring a long-lasting concealer that will last you throughout the day - from breakfast at a nearby cafe all the way to sightseeing and dinner in the city. Also, mixed with a moisturizer a concealer can easily become a tinted moisturizer, which maximizes your options for foundation.

Mineral Foundation
When you’re traveling, it’s key to bring as few products as possible. When looking at foundation, choose a mineral foundation because it is the one-step foundation that can look good without a primer underneath or setting powder on top. Also, you won’t have to worry about it taking up space in that sandwich-sized Ziploc for liquids in your carry-on bag. If you have oily skin, look for a matte finish. Otherwise, just buy the regular formula.

Creme Blush & Bronzer
Choosing a dual blush and bronzer also can help make room in your makeup bag for other products. Look for a creme formula that can easily be swept on the cheeks with a finger. For a daytime look, just use a pink blush on the apples of the cheeks, and for nighttime add the bronzer to the hollows of the cheeks and temples.

Neutral & Smokey Eye Trios
When looking for eye products, choose two small shadow palettes in different shades. Look for a neutral look as well as a smokey eye trio. Mixing and matching among six shades will give you plenty of options for eyes looks. You also can use the matte black shadow as an eyeliner instead of bringing a pencil liner. And try wetting the shadows, especially the shimmer ones, to give a metallic night-out look.

Lash Curler & Mascara
Don’t forget a lash curler and mascara, which will help define the eyes. If you’re going to a beach destination and will be in the water, also think about bringing a waterproof mascara. If you’re more landlocked, just bring a simple mascara from the drugstore. Choosing a cheap option is best when traveling because if you lose it you can easily replace it without breaking the bank.

Makeup Remover or Cleansing Wipes
Taking off makeup without irritating the skin is important no matter where you are in the world. Pack a few makeup remover wipes that you can toss in your bag and use quickly before sinking into bed after a long day of touring.

With these few products you should be able to easily create a look for any occasion, whether it be during the day or night. Be sure to pack all liquid makeup items, including mascara, in a clear plastic bag so you can easily remove it while going through security. Also, don’t forget a great pair of walking shoes, a city guidebook and a hunger for unknown. Bon Voyage!
