Let’s face it. When school kicks back into full gear, all that carefree summer lovin’ with your significant other no longer fits into your busy schedule. You go from spending every waking moment together to barely finding time to sleep. The start of a new semester means adjusting to new schedules, reuniting with old friends, and a little thing called homework. As much as you’d love to continue the summer love affair, sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day. But just because you can’t be there in person, doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to show you’re still thinking of him. Maintaining a relationship doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little creativity and a touch of sappy romance, love can fit into any busy schedule.
Love Notes:
Humor me here. People tend to completely underestimate the impact of a simple note. All sappiness aside, with all the impersonal technology we use nowadays, sometimes a handwritten note can make all the difference. Whether your note is one sentence or one page, your significant other will appreciate the time you took to write a personal message. It could be as simple as leaving a post-it note on his door saying, “Good luck on your test today” or sending a letter to your long-distance love.
Sweet Treat:
Sometimes… you just need candy. No explanations or justifications needed. Maybe it’s the little kid inside of us that gets excited over a sugary surprise or maybe it’s the homework that makes candy taste so much better. Whichever the reason, candy has a special way to our hearts. There’s nothing better than appearing at your significant other’s door with his favorite candy. Not only will it show that you remember his favorite sugary delight, but it will also show how much you care—and there’s nothing sweeter than that.
Date Night:
If spontaneity can’t fit into both of your schedules, there’s nothing wrong with planning! Setting a date night in advance can give you both something to look forward to during a week of craziness. Grab a bite off campus to get that sense of isolation you both need and wind down together over delicious food. Catch up on each other’s weeks without any distractions—yes, that means putting your phones aside. Even reserving an hour or so of undivided attention can make a world’s of difference.
